Rowin’ & Runnin’

garris-push-up5

Saturday

WOD:

5 Rounds for Time of:

Row 500 meters/Run 400 meters

Garris (bottom) found CrossFit thanks to his buddy Chris (top), and almost everyday, they suffer through workouts together to see who comes out on top.  No matter who wins though, one always encourages the other.

Don’t forget that Saturday is bring a buddy for free day!  Maybe it would motivate you to have a friend to compete with and help push you along on those days when you really don’t feel like hitting the gym!

Rest Day

Thursday

Rest Day

Rest days should be fun days!  Enjoy your day away from the gym.

“I love Jesus, but I drink a little…”

Enjoy your rest and a laugh!  Ya’ll have earned it for sure!

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children…to leave the world a better place…to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dawn, “The Machine”, has been working hard and locking her diet down for the past 5 weeks.  If you see her, first hide any sugar you have and second, tell her she is looking good and doing a fantastic job. Hang in there Coach!

We have such a great family here at Carolina CrossFit.  Since the new class structure was implemented in January, as trainers, we have seen such growth in the abilities of everyone walking through the door.

More than that, though, everyone has made it a point to encourage others.  Yes, even the tough guys are cheering people on.  I encourage everyone to step outside their box from time to time and stop by for a class outside your normal workout time to interact with other members and to experience the different dynamic of each class and to see how you feel doing the workout during a different time of day.  CrossFit should be constantly varied, not just in what you do, but when you do it.  Keep at it ya’ll.  That hard work is paying off.

On another note, if anyone has a picture they would like to submit related to CrossFit and/or CrossFit in their daily life, please send it to the email address under the “Contact” link.  We would love to post it on the site.

Break You Down & Build You Up

Tuesday

WOD:

Deadlift

3-3-2-2-1-1

Graham is solid in the bottom of the Overhead Squat & getting stronger everyday!

There were very few people that did the workout as prescribed yesterday.  The majority of you had no issue with the Power Snatch, but another chink in the armour has been found with the Overhead Squat.  Several people started with one weight and had it dropped once, twice, sometimes even three times.  People did not struggle because they were not strong enough.  Many of you have snatched more than the weight that you attempted to overhead squat.  The technique and the foundation is not there, and that is why you need to practice, practice, practice.  Do not get discouraged when you struggle with certain exercises, instead make a decision in that moment to toughen up and get better at your weakness.

“Whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy.  When your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.”  James 1:2-4

Has anyone seen this guy?  Come back Travis, we miss you!

We have such a great group of people working out at Carolina CrossFit, and in case you haven’t noticed, our group is growing!  Keep spreading the word about CrossFit!  So what if people think you are nuts!  Also, if you know someone who hasn’t been by for a workout in a while, get em’ back in the gym!  A big thanks to everyone who brought a buddy on Saturday!  Remember, every Saturday is bring a friend for free day!
