Coach Kent of CrossFit Hickory

Don’t let the smile fool you, he is one tough guy, and yes, the tattoo is real.  Now, get out there and whip him and his gym in Fight Gone Bad.  Make our gym proud and raise a ton of money for a good cause.  This photo alone should motivate you to win.  I mean, come on.  Seriously.

Today we are holding a fundraiser to help a family in need.  To make something good out of a sad situation, not only are we raising money, but we are going to beat the tar out of CrossFit Hickory and Low Country CrossFit in Fight Gone Bad.  We will take the total of our top 10 Males and top 10 Females for the day and match it against the other two affiliates.  The winner maintains bragging rights and a nifty little trophy.  Our goal as affiliates is to raise a combined total of $3,000.  We need everyone’s help to do this, so if you’re planning on working out on Saturday, do it with a purpose in mind.  The minimum donation to participate is $25, and of course extra donations are accepted.

Also….

Today is Jim Cox’s last day with us at Carolina CrossFit.  He will be headed out to spend about 10 days with his family prior to reporting to Naval OCS at the end of this month.  We wish him the best and know that he will do well.  Jim will be back in July for a short period of time before heading out to flight school in Florida.  He asked me to post “Murph” for him on his last day, so if any of you are interested in giving him a run for his money on his last day at CCF, we will kick it off at around 3:00pm.

One More Thing…

Gym dues must be paid no later than the 7th of every month.  If you’ve been slackin’, this is the last month we will accept late payments.  If you pay after the 7th, your payment is subject to a $25 late fee and will be due prior to your workout that day.  If you have any questions, email me at bobbi.millsaps@gmail.com with “dues” in the subject line.  You can pay online by clicking on the “dues” button on the right hand side of this page.

Jason on a nice evening stroll down Blanding Street

Okay, it’s time for that awful run again.  Just give it all you’ve got and mentally get yourself ready to do it.  Everyone can run, but the other half of the battle is getting your mind in step with your feet.  With this WOD, you have rest periods.  Make the most of them, but never count yourself out, no matter how bad a sprint may feel, you should always try to beat your last time.  Good luck!

On another note, we need everyone’s support on Saturday.  Please stop by and put forth your best effort on Fight Gone Bad.  CrossFit Hickory is gearing up for a battle, and now Low Country CrossFit has thrown their hat in the ring as well.  Let’s take this opportunity to show everyone what Carolina CrossFit is all about and smoke the competition and raise a ton of dough for a good cause.  If you have questions or would like to make a donation due to absence, email bobbi.millsaps@gmail.com.

Fight for a Friend

This Saturday, April 18, we will be holding a Fight Gone Bad Fundraiser for a family in need.  Almost four months ago, Israel suffered a severe head injury from a motorcycle accident and is still under hospital care in Charlotte.  To add insult to injury, the family has had to endure the loss of Israel’s father, Johnny.  Johnny died of a heart attack while sitting at his son’s bedside.  You can read more about Israel’s fight here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/israelcampbell

To help turn something negative in to something positive, Carolina CrossFit along with CrossFit Hickory in Hickory, NC  will be holding a Fight Gone Bad Fundraiser.  But it’s not only a fundraiser, it is the start of the annual North vs. South Challenge between our two gyms, with hopes of growing it in to a multi-gym competition between several of our North Carolina and South Carolina Affiliates.

We will take the combined total scores of our top 10 female athletes and our top 10 male athletes on Saturday and post that against whatever CrossFit Hickory can throw at us.  The winner will maintain possession of the “Carolina Cup” until the next year or next challenge.  The cost to enter is $25 per participant and of course extra donations are welcome.  100% of proceeds will go to Israel’s family in their time of need.  Our goal between the 2 gyms is $3,000.

Help us whip some CrossFit Hickory butt and do something good for a family in need.  Fight Gone Bad will be run during normal gym hours on Saturday between 10:00 and 12:00.
