Occupation: Retired Chief Human Resources Officer, Richland School District Two
Certification(s): Crossfit Level 1, Crossfit Gymnastics
Why did you start CrossFit? I have worked out hard all of my life. After the age of about fifty my fitness level began to decline even though I continued to follow the same fitness and nutrition plan. I saw an article about Crossfit in Men’s Health Magazine when I was about 58. I was hooked. I did crossfit on my own following the main site WOD’s for a year and made tremendous progress. When Carolina Crossfit opened I joined and my progress really accelerated. There is no substitute for excellent coaching and training with a supportive group of people
Define “What is CrossFit?” Crossfit is the most effective, efficient, complete and fun strength and conditioning program there is. Nothing else comes close-I have tried them all.
Favorite WOD: Anything with pull ups
Least Favorite WOD: Anything with double unders
Favorite Food or Meal: My next meal
Something other members wouldn’t know about you: I am a former Marine Corps Officer. I come from a long line of lint heads.
What do you do outside of CrossFit: I work part time as a human resources consultant and do volunteer work for the National Guard and Reserves. I enjoy fly fishing, hiking and kayaking.
Biggest accomplishment you think can be attributed to CrossFit: At the age of 62, I can do muscle-ups and 21 rounds of Cindy. Crossfit has made me fitter than most people half my age.
What/who inspires you? The coaches and other members-the most supportive and committed group of people anywhere.
