Age: 61 – I remember when a Pepsi was 7 cents, a candy bar was 5 cents and gasoline was 24 cents per gallon

Occupation: Retired Asst. Superintendent for Human Resources , Richland School District 2. I work  part time now as a human resources and management consultant / CCF Trainer

CrossFit-ing since: 2007

Something other members wouldn’t know about you: I was stationed in Japan and climbed Mt. Fuji while I was there. I played in the Shrine Bowl in 1966 with Tommy Suggs. He got a scholarship and I got a beat down.

Biggest accomplishment you think can be attributed to CrossFit: Overall fitness- I’m just glad I can do this stuff. Especially when I can do the WOD as Rx and get a semi-respectable score – which is not too often. Being a part of a team of such great people and great athletes. It inspires me to keep trying to get fitter.

Favorite WOD: Cindy, anything with pull-ups, rope climbs

Least favorite WOD: Anything with heavy weights, especially over head

What do you do outside of CrossFit: Fly fishing, kayaking, taking naps after lunch

A quote that inspires you: I collect quotes so I have several. I couldn’t pick just one.

“All good is hard. All evil is easy. Dying, losing, cheating, and mediocrity are easy. Stay away from easy.” -Scott Alexander

“Some people have greatness thrust upon them. Few have excellence thrust upon them. . . . They achieve it. They do not achieve it unwittingly by doing what comes naturally and they don’t stumble into it in the course of amusing themselves. All excellence involves discipline and tenacity of purpose.”  – John W Gardner

“Day after day, you undergo this process, overcoming unreasonable obstacles until your recalcitrant brain is born again hard. Embracing pain and shunning comfort, you’re ready to kill or be killed.  You’re rewired, no longer subject to the temptations of easy living and all-you-can eat buffets.  You’re an athlete.”    – Jon Gilson, Again Faster Crossfit
