Give us a little background about yourself
I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2007 with a B.S in Kinesiology, I moved to Manhattan, KS and attended Washburn University, where I received my Physical Therapist Assistant degree. Since then I have been working as a PTA in outpatient clinics. I participated in crossfit for 2 years before getting my CF Level 1 in 2013. 2 years ago I met my boyfriend, Dave, while he was stationed in KS; when his job moved him to Shaw A.F.B we decided that I would make the move too 🙂
When I am not working in the physical therapy clinic or in the gym, I enjoy being active outdoors, traveling, being with friends, snuggling with my 2 cats and watching my favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
How did you hear about CCF?
I found CCF in a google search when I moved to the area. I liked the variety of programming available and the location works perfect for me.
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
While in PTA school I traveled to Bangladesh. There I spent 6 weeks volunteering in a Bangla hospital in a spinal cord unit.
What music can we find currently playing in your car?
Depends on my mood honestly. If I am on the way to the gym it is usually hip hop, and maybe even a little T Swift 😉 Otherwise I like alternative; Mumford, Black Keys, KOL.
What current things are you working toward when it comes to your health, training, career or personal life?
In regards to my health I am always looking toward eating a clean, balanced diet. If you know me then you know I am not always the best and this will always be something I work for.
I love oly lifting and gymnastics work so honestly just trying to work on a variety of skills that allow me to become a better athlete all around.
I work as a physical therapist assistant at Drayer Physical Therapy. We see a variety of patients, especially high school and college athletes. With this great experience I would love to eventually get back to treating crossfit athletes in the gym as well as coaching.
Tell us about your most memorable workout from CCF
Greatest accomplishment –
In the past 3 months of training at CCF I have PR’d all of my oly lifts and squats, and started stringing together ring and bar MU. I love the atmosphere in the gym, especially on Saturdays when we all get together. I love the support I receive and the connections I have made!
What would you tell someone who is interested in Training with CCF?
I would say that CCF is a great place to train, whether you are a beginner or looking to be competitive. The coaches are all amazing, knowledgeable and friendly!
